SPEND A DAY WITH... LASER HOT HITS
MP3 DVD
Laser 558 was a massive hit with listeners across Europe, but a combination of poor commercial sales and a UK government blockade on supplies, led to it's downfall and the impounding of the radio ship. The Laser ship was purchased at auction by a radio enthusiast, and before long, the MV Communicator was back at sea, broadcasting as Laser Hot Hits. Again advertising sales were poor, and several aerial mast collapses led to the new station being short lived. Laser Hot Hits had plenty of enthusiasm and some excellent production work. This recording captures some of that sparkle, as you listen to a full day from Laser Hot Hits.

The station heavily promoted owner Sylvan Tack’s business interests including Suzy Waffles, Joepie pop magazine and Start records. Radio Mi Amigo re-launched from a new ship in 1979, but only a few months later the ship lost her anchor and ran aground, and was quickly impounded by the Dutch authorities. This new box set comprises 3 MP3 CD’s of airchecks, programmes, jingles and promotions, as well as a DVD with exclusive film of the Mi Amigo fan club in Belgium and the Spanish land studios at Playa de Aro.

ATLANTIS HERE, THERE, ON THE AIR, EVERYWHERE
Radio Atlantis began by hiring airtime from Radio Caroline, in July 1973, broadcasting from the MV Mi Amigo and later acquired her own ship the Jeannine. Radio Atlantis broadcast in both Flemish and English. Whilst only on the air for just over a year, Atlantis is fondly remembered, for its clever use of production and jingles. The English service in particular, re-created some of the fun and excitement of the British 60’s offshore stations. Over 3 CD’s and a DVD, this set features highlights and jingles from Radio Atlantis.

LASER ALL EUROPE RADIO
The arrival of Laser, less than a year after Radio Caroline had returned to European waters, led to a revival of interest in offshore radio in the mid-1980’s, and Laser quickly built up a huge audience. Shops, cafés, building sites and car radios were tuned to Laser 558 in London and the south of England. The UK government didn’t share listeners enthusiasm, and blockaded the radio ships, eventually forced Laser 558 off the air – but not before Laser had forced change in UK radio. Laser returned as Laser Hot Hits, but although there was great enthusiasm and excellent production, a series of mast collapses caused a loss of advertising revenue, and the end of Laser. This 3 MP3 CD sets highlights Laser 558 & Laser Hot Hits and includes a bonus DVD with the Laser 558 promo video.

RADIO 355 – THE FINAL PROGRAMME MP3 DVD
When Britain Radio closed down, a new service took over – Radio 355. This followed a similar format, although with a more British feel, unsurprisingly as the new boss was Ted Allbeury, whose previous station Radio 390 had been forced to close. Radio 390 could perhaps best be described as an up tempo version of the BBC’s Light programme. The new station on the Laissez Faire - Radio 355 – followed the same “sweet music” format. Radio 355 was fairly short lived, as with the Marine Offences Act, and renewal of the ship hire contract due, it was announced that the station would close at midnight on 5th August 1967. This recording of the final programme is complete and unedited, and covers the final two hours plus, ending at 00.17.on 6th August 1967.

UPDATED - EUROSIEGE ’85
Laser 558 was undoubtedly one of the most popular radio stations of the mid-80’s. It’s popularity however was not shared by those running the UK’s commercial radio stations and the UK authorities. The first “Eurosiege” report was read out on 13 August - just one day before the 18th anniversary of the Marine Offences Act. Charlie Wolf’s Eurosiege reports quickly became essential listening for every Laser fan. Now you can hear Charlie at his best, live from the poop deck of the Communicator reporting on the progress of Eurosiege during August and September 1985.
