WACK WACK - Young Holt (Unlimited) Trio Brunswick 55305 (1966) Various offshore promotions, including "Caroline's trendsetters and Twen Magazine"

WADE IN THE WATER - Ramsey Lewis Trio Chess CRS8041 (UK.1966), Cadet 5541 (USA.1966). Radio 270 used this as a backing to promo spots for the Farewell Dance Parties with Rusty Allen.

WAKE UP EVERYBODY - Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes  Philadelphia PIR3866 (1976) Used by Mike Hagler for an LA jingle on Radio Caroline in 1975:"LA will change your life - it's the real thing - try it - you'll love it."

WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN - Bangles CBS 6500717 (UK.1986) Used in the classic Laser Hot Hits 576 jingle production "Returning to your radio sets - Laser is back". The jingle also included clips of Love Affair - Everlasting Love, Peter Gabriel - Steam, Amazulu - Montego Bay and Status Quo - In the Army now.

WALK ON THE WILD SIDE - Lou Reed RCA 2303 (UK.1973) The intro' was used in a commercial for Mantano Filter cigarettes, aired on both RNI and Veronica

WALKING IN THE RAIN WITH THE ONE I LOVE - Love Unlimited MCA145 (1974) Used for a Veronica guest deejay spot

WARM AND TENDER LOVE - Percy Sledge Atlantic 584034 (1966). Famous for its association with the lovers spot in the Johnnie Walker Fiasco on Caroline in 1967/8.

WATCHING THE DETECTIVES - Elvis Costello Stiff BUY20 (1977) Used in a promo for Laser News Cruiser Special Eurosiege 85 Update'

WATERMELON MAN - Jimmy McGriff Track on LP Cherry Solid State SM18006 (US.1966),  re-issued on an EP United Artists UP613 (1979) Used for a promo' on Radio Condor in 1973. (audio required)

WAY BACK HOME - Jnr Walker & the Allstars Tamla Motown TMG857 (1973) Caroline deejays were obviously feeling a little unhappy in 1973, when Norman Barrington used this track as the backing for a song "Who shall we sack on Radio Caroline". Soon afterwards Steve England also used it - "I do my thing on the radio, although I've never been paid, way back home, I'll take a piss on everyone, way back home"

WE ARE FAMILY - Sister Sledge Atlantic Cotillion K11293 (1979) Used on Radio Caroline in 1979/1980 for a Greenpeace promotion.

WE GOTTA HAVE PEACE - Curtis Mayfield Buddah 2011101 (UK.1971) Used for a Voice of Peace promo'.

WE LOVE YOU - The Rolling Stones Decca F12654 (1967) Stuart Russell on Caroline voiced the jingle ‘You’re tuned into the loving vibrations from the Northsea, using this track in 1976.

WE SHALL OVERCOME - Joan Baez Fontana TF564 (1965)  Caroline North's Bob Stewart used this in Summer 1967 for producing anti MOA spots. He also used a version of Handel's Messiah for another anti MOA spot.

WE SHALL OVERCOME - Julie Felix Used for anti MOA spots on Caroline in 1967. (release details and audio required)

WE SHALL OVERCOME - Pete Seeger  CBS 8901 (US.1963) Track on LP of same name. A live version of this song was used for anti MOA spots on Caroline South. It was later used by Abe Nathan for a Voice of Peace promo in October 1973.

WESTBOUND No. 9 - Flaming Ember Hot Wax HA702 (US.1970) Hans ten Hoge on RNI used some tracks from this LP for the very interesting station opener 'Dit is het begin van een nieuwe dag op Radio Noordzee, met zenders ....... '(This is the beginning of a new day on Radio Noordzee, with transmitters...) For this he edited four tracks from the LP - 1) Flashback and reruns at the beginning and the middle of the jingle; 2) Spinning wheels for the second part; 3) This girl is a woman now for the middle; and 4) Shades of green at the end.

WE'LL MEET AGAIN - Sandy Coast Used by Will Luikinga at the end of his shows, on Veronica. (release details required)

WE WILL ROCK YOU - Queen Elektra E45090 (USA.1977) This track and the flipside "We are the Champions" were used for the Caroline drive-in show promotions.

WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS - Ray Conniff  CBS1892 (US.1962) Track on LP of same name. Used for a Caroline 60's Xmas promo'.

WESTERN UNION - 5 Americans Stateside SS2012 (1967) Used as a backing to a promo for Radio Scotland Fanclub Ball around August 1967.

THE WHALE - Electric Light Orchestra The B side of It's over Jet 5052 (US.1978) Used for a  Loving Awareness jingle made by Hugo Meulenhof on Radio Mi Amigo.

WHAT I'D SAY Jerry Lee Lewis London HLS9335 (1961) Used as a  promo for Brian McKenzie on RNI.

WHAT'S LOVE - Collectors Track on LP The Collectors Warner Bros. WS1746 / WEA 26008 (1968) A lengthy track at just over 19 minutes long, Radio Veronica used a couple of minutes of What Love suite, in a part with a saxophone backing for various promotions. This extract appears on the LP "Veronica" Veronica CBS Special Products VOO 1975 (NL.1975). Used for various Veronica promotions.

WHAT IS SOUL - Ben E. King Atlantic 584069 (1967) Used for a Mick Luvzit jingle on Caroline North

WHAT KIND OF DANCE IS THIS - Veronica Unlimited Philips 6208 020 (NL.1977). Also features Veronica jingles, it was also available on a maxi single on Philips 6830 257. Also a track on the LP "We Love the Pirate Stations" Philips 9199 236 (NL.1974) and CD "The Veronica Story" BR Music VS3108-2 (NL.1991).

WHAT NOW MY LOVE - Brass Choir & Warren King A Radio London filler track. (release details required)

WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW (ABRAHAM, MARTIN AND JOHN) - Tom Clay Mowest MW 3013 (USA.1971) Track on LP What the world needs now Mowest MW103L (USA. A classic track telling the story of the assasinations of Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy. It was featured on Caroline and was a Crispian St.John hitpick that failed to chart in the UK. The LP features a number of similar "anti-war" tracks, and reveals that the "What is Seggeration" segment of What the World.. is by Rev. Edward D.Wrobleski with Jennife Landis & Jill Weinberger. American deejay Tom Clay has also narrated a television documentary about the Kennedy assasination.

WHEN WE GET MARRIED - Dreamlovers Columbia DB4711 (1961) Used in a Radio Nord jingle.
 
WHEN WILL I SEE YOU AGAIN - Three Degrees Philadelphia International PIR2155 (1974) Used by Ferry Maat on Radio Northsea for the jingle "Nutty Radio 220 RNI on your dial".

WHISTLING ORGAN - Dave "Baby" Cortez London HLU8919 (UK.1959) was used on Radio 270 as a filler. (audio required)

WHITE ROOM - Cream Polydor 56300 (1969) Charlie Wolf used a segment of this along with Like a Rolling Stone and Louie Louie , for a Sixties Sunday promo in 1985.

A WHITER SHADE OF PALE - Raymond Lefevre Major Minor MM525 (1967) A Caroline filler for 1967/8.

WHO DO YOU LOVE - Juicy Lucy Vertigo V1 (1970) Was used by Radio Caroline in 1978 for an advertising promo.

WHOLE LOTTA LOVE - CCS RAK 104 (1970) Used for a promo for RNI's Steve Merikke show, in 1971, and narrated by Alan West. The promo also used just the words Baby I Love you, the title of the song by the Ronettes. An instrumental part of Whole Lotta Love, copied onto a loop tape, was also used during Crispian St John's Super Hit 50 show, in March 1971. Everytime he gave a rundown of ten records, the loop tape was used as a music bed. Just some "screams" from the track were used in promo's for the Flemish Atlantis Roadshow, in June and July 1974.

WHY CAN'T WE LIVE TOGETHER - Timmy Thomas Mojo 2027012 (1973) The lengthy instrumental introduction, and the song itself were used on Caroline 70's and the Voice of Peace for togetherness promotions.

WIGWAM - Bob Dylan CBS 55122 (1970) and track on the LP Self Portrait CBS 66250. (UK.1970). An semi-instrumental comprising Mr. Zimmerman "La, la, lahing", used by RNI for various promo's, from a double album that cost 59/11d (just under £3) in 1970.

WILD AND EXCITING - Earth and Fire Polydor 205004 (NL.1970) Used for a promo for Graham Gill's Sunday night contemporary music show on RNI. Produced by Robb Eden in 1973, who also used the same track for a promo for RNI's "Contemporary Music on Sundays" show

WILDES WASSER - Juliane Werding Hansa 12638AT (G.date?) Used as a promotion on Graham Gill show on RNI in 1973.
 
WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE - Glen Campbell The B side of Southern Nights Capitol 4376 (USA.1976) Capitol CL15907 (1977) Used on Radio Atlantis for a Derek Jones promo'.
 
WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE - Sounds Incorporated Columbia DB7404 (1964) Used as a filler by Jim Murphy on Caroline North.

WINDY -The Association London HLT10140 (1967) Played by Radio Caroline, from the Ross Revenge, when they needed a tender. The small boat, named Windy, would then sail out from Dunkerque.

WINDY - Wes Montgomery A & M AMS713 (1968) A Caroline South filler.

WIPE OUT - The Surfaris London HLD9751 (UK.1963) Used for jingle "Hallo, hallo dit is de Peter van Dam Hit Show" on Radio Mi Amigo.

WITHOUT YOUR LOVE - The Cats Radio Veronica used this track to gather support in their campaign for the 18th April 1973 demonstration (release details required)

WOODSTOCK - Crosby Stills Nash & Young Atlantic 2091010 (UK.1970) Part of the song was used in a Radio Veronica jingle.

WOMEN IN LOVE - Keith Beckingham & Dukes Blue Elephant BE24012H (NL.1973) An RNI filler track.

WORDS OF LOVE - The Beatles Track on album Beatles for Sale Parlophone PCS3062 (Stereo LP release UK.1964) The intro' of this track was used by Kenny Everett on Radio London for a Beatles Classic promotion. Also used on Caroline 319 in a jingle "All through the night love, peace and good music".

WOULDN'T IT BE NICE - The Beach Boys Capitol CMS1 (1972) Used in a commercial for Caroline jeans in 1978.

YAKETY AXE - Chet Atkins RCA 1464 (UK.1965) Used in a commercial for the LP "Veronica Teleflight presents RCA Nashville Sound" (RCA Int' INTS1491 NL.1974). The commercial also used clips of I Love you because - Jim Reeves, I wanna go home - Bobby Bare, End of the World - Skeeter Davis, and Please help me I’m fallin’ - Hank Locklin.

YAMASUKI -  Yamasuki Singers Biram 6109003 (B.1973); UK Records UKR72 (1974) Brian McKenzie used the start of this track as a jingle before a record on his RNI programme in 1973. It was also used for a Graham Gill promo' spot, the same year.

YELLOW SUBMARINE - George Martin Orchestra Track on album George Martin plays the Beatles Andy Archer and Peter Chicago used this as a backing during several  "Beatles Special" programmes they did on Radio Seagull in 1974. (release details required)

YELLOW SUBMARINE - Hollyridge Strings Track on LP The Beatles Songbook Volume 4 Capitol ST-2656 (US.1960's) Tony Allan used this track as a backing to sing an RNI jingle.

YES I WILL - The Hollies Parlophone R5232 (1965) Used to record trailers for the Roger Day show on Caroline in 1967/8 with Roger himself doing the voice over.

YESTERDAY MAN - Chris Andrews Decca F12236 (1965) Used by RNI for a Flashback jingle in 1970.

YESTERDAY MAN - Ken Woodman Track on LP That's Nice Strike JHL101 (1966) Used for a Look Boden jingle on Radio 227.

YOU'RE THE CREAM IN MY COFFEE - Ray Conniff Singers Track on LP Somebody Loves Me CBS 1642 (US.1962) Used as a promo for Buitengaats on RNI.

YOU'VE GOT YOUR TROUBLES - The Fortunes Decca F12173 (UK.1965) Used by several offshore stations including Caroline and London, to advise their land office that there was a problem and a tender was urgently needed. Also used for an Ellie Prins jingle on Radio Atlantis.

YOU KEEP ME HANGING ON - The Supremes Tamla Motown TMG585 (1966) The intro' was used for a promo for "Keefers calculated convention" on Caroline South in 1967.

YOU REALLY GOT ME - The Kinks Pye 7N15673 (1964) Used by Radio Veronica in a trailer for the Muziek Express show. The track was also used in a 1967 promo spot for Tony the Prince on Caroline North in which "the Kinky, Silly, Surfy, Psychodelic, it's the Prince Tony Show" was announced. As well as the Kinks, the promo also used clips from 1) Positively 4th street - Bob Dylan; 2) California Girls - Beach Boys; 3) All along the Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix; and 4) She loves you - The Beatles.

ZIG ZAG DANCE - The Foggy Joe Band Motors MT4032 (F.1973) The first part was used for a memorable Mi Amigo jingle, and also used as a filler on Radio Atlantis.

ZWAAIEN EN ZWIEREN - De Twee Pinten Philips 6012165 (NL.1971) A Dutch carnival song from January 1972, used for Radio Noordzee football commercial 

ZWIJGEN IS GOUD - Maarten van Rooijen Dennis Music. A library music LP, subtitled Muziek voor Stomme Films (Music for Silent Films). Radio Veronica used the the track Comic Bugle Call for the Top 40 promo "Meine Damen und Herren, die Schlagerparade" and Slide & Wah Wah for Top 40 jingles. The track Uncle Harry was used for filler music in the Kolder op Zolder show.
