b) THE SHOW IS OVER - Petula Clark Pye 7N17258 (1967) The flipside of the hit This is my song. Klaas used the first 10 to 20 seconds of "The show is over" at the end of his show, before sequeing into "Scarlett O’Hara". Also used to close Brian McKenzie’s show on RNI.
c) THEME ONE - George Martin Orchestra United Artists UP1194 (1967). Used by Klaas as a closedown theme on Veronica 192. The tune was recorded as the theme for BBC Radio One.

NAKED CITY THEME - Jack Costanzo The B side of Theme from Route 66 London HLG9401 (1961). We were originally told that Tommy Vance used an instrumental version of Georgie Fames hit Yeh Yeh by the Mark Wirtz Orchestra Track on the LP Latin a Go-Go Ember SLP5033 (1965), although can find no evidence of this. Can anyone shed any light on it?

"Scrub board" was the B side to this release. "Scrub board"
was also used as a backing for a song by the Mi Amigo deejays, with the famous
words "Caroline and Mi Amigo, we are sitting on the North Sea, two radio
stations for you specially....". The track is also on the late 1988
re-issued album "The Legendary Zing album" on Kent 088.

The original Belgian Palette release is the flipside of "Special 230", the theme to the RTB programme Interville 1965, the picture sleeve Hansa re-issue has a great picture of Brasseur on the sleeve, with "The Kid" on the flipside. SCOTCH ON THE ROCKS - Force Ten Decca F13319 (1972). As well as Dick Verheul, this classic offshore talkover theme was remembered for its many uses, one of them being the first record used by Tony Allan when he opened the ill-fated RNI2 on 192 metres.

GRAHAM WEBB (Caroline South)
ECHO, ECHO, ECHO - Don Lee Prestige Records, no catalogue number (Australia, late 50's) The record states "The New Sound" multiplied by Don Lee, the flipside is "Charmaine". Graham edited the intro' from Reveille Rock by Johnny & the Hurricanes, on to the start of his theme. The track is a distinctive piece of music and one can almost visualise a spider spinning its web in time to the beat. Thanks to Graham Webb for details and audio.

a) AFRICANA - Nigel Hopkins Fontana TF1007 (1969). Hopkins was a trumpeter who came to fame on Thames TV "Opportunity Knocks" with Hughie Greene, Alan used this theme when he first broadcast on RNI.

ON THE COOLER SIDE - Dave Davani Four Parlophone R5525 (Nov. 1966) The B side of One Track Mind. Track on CD Fused Ace CDWIKD 212 (UK.2002) A one time jazz accordianist Dave Davani moved on to the Hammond organ, becoming popular in Soho jazz and dance clubs. The picture of the Dave Davani Four, shows Dave bottom right and singer Beryl Wayne (Mrs. Davani). Mark West was later known as Mark Wesley on RNI, see entry above.
TONY WINDSOR (Atlanta / London / 355)
a) REVENGE - The Ray McVay Sound Pye 7N15777 (Feb. 1965), the B side is Raunchy, was this theme used on Radio Atlanta or 355?. A version of a Kinks track, that was used as the theme to TV’s Ready Steady Go.
b) WALTZING MATILDA - Frank Ifield Columbia DB7062 (1963) Tony’s theme on Radio London.
CHARLIE WOLF (Laser 558)
a) WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF - The Three Little Pigs Track on EP Walt Disney Originals - 6 Super songs Disneyland/Pickwick DS6000 and on the album "Walt Disneys Greatest Hits" Disneyland Records WD3. Charlie’s show intro’ originally dates from 1933.
b) WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR - Jiminy Cricket and Chorus HMV BD993 (UK.1940) Victor 26477 (US.1940). American Cliff Edwards, known as Ukelele Ike, was the voice of Disney cartoon character Jiminy Cricket in the film Pinocchio. The original HMV & Victor 78rpm releases, won an Oscar for Best song, and is nowadays the Disneyland anthem. Charlie’s show outro’ features as a track on the LP Walt Disneys Greatest Hits Disneyland Records WD3.
