WRITS SERVED
The former technical consultant to Laser in its early days, Paul Rusling appeared on the TVS programme Coast to Coast, at 18.00 on the 6th. Paul claimed he was still owed £7,000 by Laser and said that "earlier today my solicitor instructed the Admiralty Marshall to serve a writ on the vessel when she docks in Harwich this evening, which will prevent
the ship from leaving until those bills are met. The station's turning over a lot of money, anything up to (100,000 some weeks and it's not right that they should be cheating small people such as myself and the disc jockeys and crew that work on the ship. Disc jockeys are left high and dry in Kent having no wages after working for the station for several months, it's just not fair, it's time the people who are making the money out of the station, paid some of their dues." A short while after this, at 18.30 on the BBC TV programme Look East, George Darling the Managing director of Gardline Surveys claimed that Laser owed them £5,000 and said, "We should be taking legal action tomorrow, to either arrest the ship or take another course to recover our money. Also since they asked for assistance of our engineers and marine people then there could also be a possibility of a salvage claim against them ".
