21st birthday

As befits a Queen, Radio Caroline has two birthdays, the first was on 28th March when mention was made of the fact that 21 years before Caroline had started her broadcasts. At 11.58 that day Jay Jackson signed out saying "For Caroline, this is Chrrr...Jay Jackson" to be followed by the news - or rather non-news as the newsroom feed was not working. However on Carolines "Official" birthday at Easter, things went more smoothly. On Saturday at 12.00 noon, a voice from the past was heard - Chris Moore opening the show and introducing a record by the Rolling Stones all on tape, then into the record in actuality followed by Simon Barratt.

Easter Sunday saw the start of the DJ's top 200 records from Carolines DJ's past and present, this continued onto Monday. If anyone counted the 200 they'd have discovered only 147 records, there were no numbers given out, so we can only guess that it must have been due to the effects of the specially brewed Radio Caroline GBH Bitter that was imbibed that weekend. Something else to be remembered from the Sunday must be the marathon broadcast of John Lewis starting at 15.00 and still going strong at midnight, the show ended at 01.00 when Fiona Jeffries took over and John went off for a spell of shore leave the next day.
