SPEND A DAY WITH RNI
- NEW YEAR 1974
Many old offshore radio recordings
tend to be fairly short, and are often airchecked, so it is difficult to get an
idea of how it all sounded and its impact. However with this presentation, we
have a complete unedited day of Radio Northsea International, with programming
from both the English and Dutch services, recorded from the FM output. .
This MP3 DVD recording runs for over 24 hours, taking in both the Dutch and
English services through the end of 1973, and into New Year 1st January 1974. So
sit back, relax, and enjoy a day with RNI – the Sound of Young Europe.

RADIO 270 – THE FINAL PROGRAMME
(remastered)
Seeing the success of
offshore radio stations anchored around the south of England, Yorkshire
businessman Wilf Proudfoot decided to set up a station to serve the UK Midlands.
A suitable ship - the Ocean 7 was acquired and Radio 270 joined the “pirate”
airwaves.
The passing of the British Marine Offences Act, saw the station close on 14th
August 1967. This remastered recording of the final programme runs for 3 hours, and is complete and unedited.

 |
RADIO 355 – THE FINAL PROGRAMME
(remastered)
When Britain Radio closed down, a new service took over – Radio 355. This
followed a similar format, although with a more British feel, unsurprisingly as
the new boss was Ted Allbeury, whose previous station Radio 390 had been forced
to close. Radio 390 could perhaps best be described as an up tempo version of
the BBC’s Light programme. The new station on the Laissez Faire - Radio 355 –
followed the same “sweet music” format.
Radio 355 was fairly short lived, as with the Marine Offences Act, and renewal
of the ship hire contract due, it was announced that the station would close at
midnight on 5th August 1967. This recording of the final programme is complete
and unedited, and covers the final two hours plus, ending at 00.17.on 6th August
1967. £19.99

RNI - THE SOUND OF YOUNG EUROPE
Radio Northsea International had more than it’s fair share of drama, being
jammed by the British government,
a firebomb attack and an attempted hijacking. The station, with it’s multi
coloured radioship was also influential
in introducing Dutch bands to a wider European audience. This CD set of
highlights and jingles,
includes a bonus DVD with the RNI film – The Show must go on.

CAROLINE REVIVAL HOUR - When Radio Caroline went off
the air in March 1968, there were not many opportunities to keep the name
alive. Apart from a new ship, the only option was to hire radio airtime. The
choice was very limited, as much European radio was state controlled, and
hiring time was simply not an option. One radio station that was prepared to
hire airtime, was in the tiny state of Andorra, between France and Spain.
Radio Andorra aired the Caroline Revival Hour in the early hours of the
morning, one year after Caroline closed.
2nd March 1969. The show is introduced by Don Allen and includes
messages from Bud Ballou, Stevie Merike, Bob Stewart and Jason Wolf.
